Twisted Love (Twisted # 1)

OMG! Let me tell you about "Twisted Love" because I am still not over this deliciously angsty romance! 📚✨

First of all, Alex Volkov? The way Ana Huang crafts this absolutely devastating Ice King character with layers upon layers of complexity had me gripping my kindle till my knuckles turned white. You know those heroes who are cold on the outside but molten when it comes to their one person? That's our guy Alex, and watching him slowly, melt for Ava was pure perfection.

And Ava? Can we talk about how refreshing it is to have a "sunshine" character who isn't just a one-dimensional ball of happiness? Her struggle with her past trauma and the way she actively chooses to see beauty in the world despite everything makes her optimism feel earned rather than naive. The scene where she stands up to Alex's coldness with her own quiet strength? I literally had to put my book down and just breathe.

The brother's best friend trope here is flawless because it adds this layer of forbidden tension to every interaction. The way Alex tries to keep his distance but can't help gravitating toward Ava? The internal struggle between his loyalty to her brother and his growing feelings? It really is pure torture in the best possible way!

But what really sets this book apart is how Huang handles the darker elements. The exploration of trauma, revenge, and healing never feels gratuitous or exploitative. Instead, it adds depth to both characters' journey toward each other. That scene where Alex finally lets his walls down and shows Ava his vulnerability? I'm not crying, you are! 😭

Also, can we appreciate how the steam level in this book is off the charts? 🔥 Ana Huang knows how to write tension that builds and builds until you're practically begging for these two to just kiss already!

Rating: 5/5 Morally Gray Men ✨
